Skokie Replacement Windows and Doors 60076, 60077

Skokie Door Installation and Skokie Window Installation

Skokie was first incorporated as a village in 1888, under the name Niles Center. As the population grew, so too did the confusion between Niles Center and the neighboring suburb of Niles. In 1940 the community voted to change the name to Skokie, the Potawatomi word for “marsh.” By then Skokie was far removed from a small farming community in marshland. A development boom in the early 1900s earned the town the designation of “world’s largest village,” and the post-World War II boom expanded the town even more. Many Jewish families arrived in Skokie during the post-War boom, marking the beginning of the large Jewish community that still thrives in town today.
